About The Shack
The Jack Shack was founded in 2021 by Andrew and Giovanny with the hopes to spread unique cuisine from Central America into the United States. The goal was to introduce something new with an American twist.
About the Jack-
The Jack is a native food to the country of Belize. It is a bread similar to a sopapilla, though more dense. Belizean’s use this as a form of bread served with any meal during the day. The most common time is at breakfast, typically served with refried beans, eggs, and a meat. The Jack is such a versatile food that just about anything can be done with it!
In October of 2021 we took a trip to Belize to explore the country and learn about the culture and cuisine. While staying in the south of Belize in Dangriga we had the opportunity to get in the kitchen with Akilah and learn to make traditional Jack dough and really get a hands on experience of what it’s like making the amazing food!
The Akilah on our menu was the Jack we made with her the morning we learned. Try it today with a side of beans for dipping.
